Une petite semaine avec néanmoins une pépite – FALLEN de et avec Viggo Mortensen a fait sensation dans plusieurs festivals de cinéma, où il a récolté d’excellentes critiques. L’autre nouveauté est un documentaire musical (produit – ou acheté – par Apple TV+) et s’appelle BILLIE EILISH: THE WORLD’S A LITTLE BLURRY (photo). Finalement, les amis de Harry Potter en 4DX se rueront (du moins on l’espère) sur HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE et HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS, qui sont proposés en reprise au Kirchberg. John vit en Californie avec son compagnon Eric et leur fille adoptive Mónica, loin de la vie rurale conservatrice qu’il a quittée voilà des années. Son père, Willis, un homme obstiné issu d’une époque révolue, vit désormais seul dans la ferme isolée où a grandi John.L’esprit de Willis déclinant, John l’emmène avec lui dans l’Ouest, dans l’espoir que sa soeur Sarah et lui pourront trouver au vieil homme un foyer plus proche de chez eux…
- Même si nous n’avons pas pu le voir au Festival de Toronto (virtuel), où il avait été géoblocké, nos sources fiables outre-mer nous assurent que FALLING est un des films à voir absolument cette année. Et comme le film arrive en pleine pandémie/paranoïa, ne vous privez pas du plaisir de découvrir le grand Viggo mortensen en tant qu’acteur, scénariste, scénariste, producteur ET musicien. C’est ce qui s’appelle un multi-talent ! (jpt)

Now (Viggo Mortensen) has written and directed his first movie, and it’s a really valuable work, beautifully edited and shot, with a wonderful performance by the veteran actor Lance Henriksen: a sombre, clear-eyed look at the bitter endgame of dementia. Mortensen takes a determined walk across the hot coals of family pain; the drama shows how the condition, with its outbreaks of anger and fear, locks the sufferer into disjointed memories that cannot be expressed or made sense of, a mute ecstasy of loneliness. But it erases other painful memories of wrongdoing that, through a mysterious, sickening quantum, get displaced all too vividly into the minds of the grownup children and carers. - Having quietly spent years augmenting his acting work with prodigious output in music, poetry and visual arts (not to mention founding a publishing house that champions other artists’ work), Viggo Mortensen finally takes the director’s chair in Falling, a masterful family drama taking a compassionate view of a father whose faults are impossible to ignore. Playing the son who must now care for him through bouts of dementia while absorbing his insults, Mortensen co-stars with Lance Henriksen, a beloved character actor who has almost certainly never had such a meaty part — with 250 roles on his IMDb page, one can’t claim to have watched them all — and who undeniably rises to the occasion. Sundance attendees shouldn’t read anything into programmers’ placement of this artful film at the tail end of the schedule: This will be one of the fest’s most assured directing debuts, and is sure to move viewers whether or not their own families contain a figure as problematic as Henriksen’s Willis Petersen. Un documentaire consacré à la chanteuse Billie Eilish. Elle a sorti son premier album avant-gardiste « WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? » en 2019, pour lequel elle a remporté les prix de meilleure nouvelle artiste, album de l’année, chanson de l’année, et meilleur album pop vocal lors de la 62e édition des Grammy Awards en janvier dernier. Elle a ensuite marqué les esprits avec sa reprise mémorable de ”Yesterday” des Beatles lors de la 92e cérémonie des Oscars. En 2020, à seulement 18 ans, Billie Eilish a signé la chanson-thème de la bande originale du prochain James Bond, ”No Time To Die”. le film qui se fait (beaucoup trop) attendre.
